As in previous years, I hope that the events being held within the framework of Baku Energy Week this year are successful for the two eternally brotherly countries—Türkiye and Azerbaijan—and for our region in particular. This platform, the result of the oil strategy initiated by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, which earned Azerbaijan the status of a reliable partner in the international energy arena, continues to make significant contributions to the implementation of new energy initiatives and the expansion of cooperation across the Caspian region.
The International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition, first held in 1994 at the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the architect of Azerbaijan`s new energy strategy, has over the years transformed into a multifaceted platform. It has made vital contributions to energy security, sustainable development, and effective cooperation in the region.
On the occasion of the exhibition’s 30th anniversary, the “Smart Energy Hub” - a dedicated startup zone - has been established, providing local startups with a unique opportunity to present their advanced solutions and strategies to leading companies in the energy sector and other key stakeholders. As an organization that supports startups, we highly appreciate this commendable initiative by the organizers.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we could not meet, but this year we were happy with the opportunity to visit oil and gas exhibition and forum in Baku. We presented a separate stand at the exhibition, we had many meetings in the capital of Azerbaijan - with SOCAR and other companies, and we think that the negotiations will be rewarding. We had the opportunity to hold fruitful discussions with the colleagues from Azerbaijan, Turkiye, Bulgaria, Serbia, the United States and the European Union.
This Forum is interesting to participate in as it is a large international gathering of different stakeholders in terms of policy-making and in terms of business. So, Baku Energy Forum is a huge event that brings together people from all over the world. To my understanding it is a regional conference, so, it definitely has the potential to influence policies and business, so, it is a good momentum, so to say, to gather every year and discuss these issues.
Azerbaijan is going to be a very important partner of Europe in the future when it comes to energy deliveries. So, it is obvious that the relationship must be improved and I hope that this event contributes to convincing those who need to be convinced to be able to increase the capacity of the network which connects us with Azerbaijan.

This event is much different: it is on a world class level, it is Azerbaijan now that is being courted, it is all the investors now coming saying “hey, we would like to work with you; yes, you are trustworthy, you have delivered”. And the European Union even is saying “Azerbaijan is our strategic partner in energy”.
I think the event is excellently organized. Perfect place has been chosen, everything is wonderfully thought out, and hospitality, as always, is up to the mark!
From my point of view, such events are very important, they provide an opportunity to come together, discuss the future and pressing issues, both with the government representatives and with private companies and regulators, and the forum is an ideal meeting place for all interested parties.

This Forum is of interest to me personally as it brings a diversity of regional voice into the global energy conversation. That’s our 100th energy congress, while this is the 29th Baku Energy Forum. So, I think, there is a great set of participants.It’s a dialogue forum where we exchange perspectives and hopefully identify some new opportunities that we weren’t seeing before and that catalyzes the collaboration that didn’t exist before, and creates a new solution that leads to a set of decisions about how we move it forward.
The forum is going well. Now it is very important to discuss the energy security strategy. We need to find like-minded people who are ready to stake on the professional provision of energy security in many countries. Here, at the forum, we talked about gas.
